Character Development
We believe that developing ones character is not something that can be taught in an hour or in a month. Character development is something that should be modeled each and every day, not only by Administration and Faculty, but by students and parents as well. Honesty, respect, responsibility, citizenship, compassion, sympathy, tolerance, resilience, commitment, and accomplishment are all traits that students should recognize and work to display on a daily basis, both within the halls and classes of Lyndon as well as outside of them.
We teach our students awareness as well as how to acknowledge and respect others around the world. While Lyndon Academy is not religiously affiliated, we believe in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would wish done to you. We want our students to show compassion, understanding for others, patience and to be tolerant of others regardless of where they are from or the beliefs with which they are raised.
We want our students to know their role in our global society and understand how they impact the world around them. We want them to be global citizens. Their actions will affect individuals, animals, plants, and our environment as a whole, well beyond the Lyndon community. The decisions they make will have a ripple effect on our small planet.
As part of our character development, we encourage community service. We find the area of community service to be one of the more rewarding activities that the Lyndon families get to experience. Service to others may sometimes appear to go unnoticed and feel thankless, but to those who receive the service it can be life changing and impactful. Lyndon Academy has been fortunate enough to participate in many service projects. From Soles for Souls collections, baking biscuits for the local animal shelter, participating in the Heifer International project, writing a grant to provide supplies to the local firehouse, or providing books and teddy bears for Northside Hospital Pediatrics, we will continue to find ways to impact our community, both near and far so that we may bring smiles to faces that we may never see.
In addition to our regular efforts, Lyndon Academy supports Lyndon In Action, an after-school club that is dedicated to supporting the greater good of our global community.
