Health & Fitness
At Lyndon Academy, we teach health & fitness to all students. Students learn to understand that health plays an active role in the function of the brain. While they learn the basics of hygiene, eating, sleeping, and exercising properly, students work throughout the year on dexterity. They learn physical skills that improve physical movement and the manipulation of objects. These same skills will help sharpen their minds and ultimately assist them in other academic areas. They also study physiology related to the human body to better understand metabolism, respiration, and other functions of the body that enable it to move and exercise.
As part of the curriculum for health & fitness students also learn how to play sports that not only promote well being, but also teach invaluable life lessons related to individual disciplines, sportsmanship and team building skills while teaching skills and rules that are necessary and apply to daily life. In addition to Health & Fitness Classes, students have at least one free choice recreation period per day.
