2011winterconcertAt Lyndon Academy, we take great pride in all of our academic subjects, and the art programs are not left in the dark. Formal art and music classes are offered weekly at Lyndon. In art classes students learn about the history of artists and their techniques, and they have the opportunity to apply these techniques in their own creative way. Additional after-school art classes are offered to those who want to expand their horizons.

In music classes, students study history, choral music and musical instruments. They begin to learn to read music and play instruments as early as first grade. By the time students reach 5th grade they have four music classes per week, and they are well on their way to achieving musical literacy and meeting National Standards. In addition to formal music classes during normal school hours, students have the opportunity to participate in private and group after-school music programs. Dance classes are also available at Lyndon Academy.

The art and music programs collaborate for regular school wide performances, while also working closely with our Drama Club in theater and arts programming.

Field days are planned for the arts annually. Students have visited The High Museum, Center of Puppetry Arts, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Chinese calligraphers and various musicians and artists have visited the school as well.
