What Separates Lyndon from Other Schools |

|
Lyndon Academy is a place, in the words of the SACS accreditation team, that is "extraordinary". It is a place that energizes students and teaches a love of learning.
Students are greeted every morning at the front door with a hand shake and a smile. The energy and love for learning are visible in and out of school. It is not uncommon for a parent to threaten their son or daughter with the idea that if they do not behave, then they will not be able to go to Lyndon.
Beyond the tone, differentiation exists in the delivery of education. Each student has a team of teachers. Instead of getting just the attention of one core classroom teacher, Lyndon elementary students get the attention of up to nine teachers. They are provided with a schedule that is similar to a high school student. This energizes students and provides them with the opportunity to absorb and retain more information. Teachers teach the subject they love and that passion translates to a love of learning for every subject. Students benefit more from their teachers as well. More content is covered and topics are expanded.
The standards of the curriculum are stronger than those of the two states that lead the nation in sending students on to college. In fact, the standards are advanced one year ahead for students in junior kindergarten through 8th grade. Then Spanish and Mandarin are added into the mix as part of the core curriculum starting in Junior Kindergarten so that students will be fluent in at least two additional languages when they enter middle school. Language Arts are an important part of the curriculum at Lyndon for two reasons. The tri-lingual program prepares students for the global market that they will enter, and more importantly it strengthens their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
