There is something to be said about a Lyndon Junior Kindergartner that sets them apart from the rest of the Pre-K students in the State. Those who complete the Lyndon experience demonstrate a great deal of maturity. Academically, they are well rounded. They are reading and writing in two languages, adding and subtracting numbers, understanding their role as a citizen, and understanding the world around them.
The Junior Kindergarten day is full of activity and challenges. They have a five period class schedule, and each class lasts approximately one hour. Students move from one room to another for each class. The movement keeps students active, alert, stimulated, and productive. The schedule also includes snack time, lunch, quiet time, and recess.
As a bilingual school, English and Spanish are taught everyday. Spanish is incorporated in other classes as well. Students will be bilingual by the time they enter middle school.
The course work is challenging. Students are taught material that is at least one grade level above normal standards. The students are not gifted children. They are normal students who are taught a love of learning.
