Admissions Goal

Our goal is to enroll students who will benefit from the programs offered at Lyndon Academy, and who will contribute to the school and to the community. In selecting students we look for evidence of age-appropriate academic ability, motivation, interests, and potential for personal growth.

PencilsAdmissions Policy and Procedure

Lyndon Academy is a college preparatory school, and therefore, the admissions process is similar to that of a college or university. Lyndon Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin.

Current attending students have the first right of acceptance for the next school-year. Reenrollment letters are issued February 1st. They have ten days from the date of receipt to commit.

New students are accepted based on screening, observation and testing results. Lyndon Academy has a rolling admissions policy. New students may secure a seat in a current year if one becomes available. However, if an accepted student chooses not to take that seat in the current school-year, then they are not guaranteed a seat in the coming school-year. Their application will go back into the applicant pool for reconsideration from the Admissions Committee.

New Student Applicant Process

The first step is to schedule a visit. Tours and meetings with the Headmaster are by appointment only. Plan to spend at least an hour and a half at Lyndon for your first visit.

If you and your child are interested in attending, then schedule a visitation day for only your child during a school day. This visitation allows the Lyndon teachers to observe and learn more about your child. It also provides the administration with time to screen or test each potential student. Make plans for your son or daughter to stay at Lyndon for the day. Keep in mind we are looking for age-appropriate academic ability, motivation, interests, and potential for personal growth. There is no need to purchase flash cards and put undo stress on your child. There is no screening or testing fee.

Next, fill out an application, at no cost, and provide all other necessary paperwork to complete the admissions process. Acceptance decisions by the Admissions Committee are not made without this documentation. An application may be downloaded below or you may stop in to pick one up. Applications may be mailed or dropped off in person. An applicant's photo is required for identification purposes only. Listed below are the items you will need to bring to our administrative personnel in order to be considered for admission.

1. Most recent grade card
2. Teacher Recommendation Form
3. School Record Form
4. Most recent standardized tests
5. Completed application
6. Recent Photo

On visitation day your son or daughter should:

1. Be prepared to stay for the day unless other arrangements have been made
2. Check in at the front office before going to class
3. Plan to take a placement assessment test

The Admissions Committee will consider all applicants at its earliest convenience. Acceptance Letters will be sent out shortly after each meeting. A commitment to Lyndon Academy and deposit are required within ten days of receipt of the Letter of Acceptance in order to secure a seat.

Kindergarten Early Admissions Process

If you wish to secure a seat for your child or children early, then you may do so with a firm commitment prior to December 31st. It is generally easier to secure a seat in the Kindergarten Early Admissions Process due to the availability of the seating.

Visitations, screening, testing and all paperwork are to be completed by December 10th. The Admissions Committee meets the week of December 10th, and Acceptance Letters are mailed on December 15th. A commitment is required by December 31st.

We are excited that you are taking Lyndon Academy under strong consideration! Whether you study with us or at one of the other fine institutions in the area, we wish you all the best in your educational endeavors!
