Lyndon Academy offers an accelerated curriculum. At Lyndon, a teacher and a student together are responsible for following the curriculum. They must work together to meet the standards required by the Academy. However, how they get there is entirely up to them.
At Lyndon Academy the bar is set high. The standards of the curriculum are modeled after the two states that lead the nation in sending students on to college. They have been tested, proven, and adapted to 21st century teaching. Then they are introduced one year in advance to students all the way through 7th grade. Eighth grade students will be introduced to an enriched upper school preparation program that prepares them for college entrance exams and a successful high school career. Upper school students will be encouraged to pursue a major that reflects their career interests. Students entering middle school will be trilingual and also encouraged to pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma in upper school.
This progressive, accelerated, and individualized curriculum is designed to nurture the spirit as well as stimulate the mind. The joy of learning is as important as mastering the task. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we teach students to play an active role in their own education, to learn how to ask the right questions and make pertinent connections and decisions, and to be a global citizen. The standards and expectations challenge students to do their best in an accepting and compassionate setting which encourages each student to be an individual.
