What better way is there to get a head start on school, then completing the Junior Kindergarten program at Lyndon Academy. There is something to be said about a Lyndon Junior Kindergartner that sets them apart from the rest of the Pre-K students in the State. Those who complete the Lyndon experience demonstrate a great deal of maturity. Academically, they are well rounded. They are reading and writing in two languages, adding and subtracting numbers, understanding their role as a citizen, and understanding the world around them. See the sample of performance standards for language arts and math below.
The Junior Kindergarten day is full of activity and challenges. In addition to having math, English, science and social studies classes daily, the Junior Kindergarten is also exposed to daily Spanish classes. Music, art and exercise is incorporated in the program daily. Formal music and art classes are taught during the week as well. While the course work is challenging, it is also motivating and fun. Students are taught a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Note: the following standards are just a small sample of what Junior Kindergarten students will be able to accomplish by the end of the year. They are excellent points of comparison when researching schools.
