school-bldgIn 2005, Linda Murdock, with the help of her family, founded Lyndon Academy in the metro Atlanta. A small day care building was purchased and renovated on Highway 92 in Woodstock with the idea that the facility would serve only as a temporary stepping stone. The building was rebuilt with elementary style teaching classrooms and technology.

A pilot program for Junior Kindergarten students that incorporated Spanish daily and the rotating class system in the first scholastic year validated the ideas and founding of the program here in Georgia. Each year thereafter, Lyndon added a grade. The option to open school for a broad range of grades was rejected, due in large part to quality control concerns and fear of running out of space too quickly.

In the 2006-07 scholastic year Lyndon's first kindergarten took the Stanford 9 Achievement Test in order to obtain a national standardized comparison. The average score was at the 90th percentile. The performance was repeated in the following two scholastic years for kindergarten through second grade on the Stanford 10 Achievement Tests.

In the spring of 2007, Lyndon Academy earned its SACS-CASI accreditation status. Then in the 2008-09 scholastic year Lyndon introduced a third language to 1st and 2nd grade students. Mandarin, the Chinese government's mandated language, became the third daily language of study.

In 2007 the current growth and foreseeable growth necessitated the relocation and expansion of Lyndon Academy. In December of 2008, Lyndon contracted to buy its current location. Ground was broken in April of 2009 on Phase I of a multi-phase project that will ultimately take newbuildingLyndon to the 12th grade within the next decade. In February 2010, in the middle of a snow storm, Lyndon relocated from Highway 92 to 485 Toonigh Rd. Students went on February break and returned a week later to a fully furnished new school. Also notable in the spring of 2010 was the inaugural classes' completion of third grade and record setting achievement scores on the Stanford 10s. Math scores averaged close to the 95th percentile.

In the spring of 2011, Kindergarten through 4th grade students again achieved average scores just above the 90th percentile in the nation on the Stanford 10 Achievement Test. First through 4th grade students achieved above average proficiency scores on their annual Chinese Language test, and the first 4th grade student was nominated and awarded the honor of participating in Duke TIP. Lyndon Academy then soared into the 2011-12 scholastic year with a record setting growth rate of just over 53% and the addition of 5th grade.
