Clubs & Activities
Clubs are an extension of school life at Lyndon for both lower school and middle school students. Students are members of Drama Club, Science Olympiad, Advanced Lego Robotics, Chess Club and our community service organization (Lyndon in Action).
Lower school and middle school drama clubs perform twice annually on the big stage. They are incredibly popular, and the lessons learned and the confidence instilled in our young actors reinforces Lyndon’s vision for our students.
The Science Olympiad, Advanced Lego Robotics and Chess Clubs are also very popular and competitive in nature. In 2012, our Lego Team went to competition in the First Lego League for the first time. While they were significantly younger than the competition, they did extremely well at regionals. Our 4th through 6th grade team competed largely against teams with 6th through 8th grade students, and they placed 17th out of 35 teams. Our Lego team most recently received the Core Values Teamwork Award for 2013 Nature’s Fury Competition.
Lyndon In Action or LIA reinforces our commitment to global citizenship. This community service organization has assisted local firemen, baked biscuits for animal shelters, run donation drives for shelters for women, children and animals. They have raised money for large animal rescue, stuffed shoe boxes for women and children in shelters, provided clothing and toys to children in need, and generally committed to making the world a little bit better. See LIA in action.
Meeting schedules and frequency for clubs are determined by the after-school program director and club advisors based upon competition requirements, end-of-year productions, project timeline etc. While clubs are official school sponsored organizations with professional advisors that hold meetings on school grounds, they do require membership initiation fees.
